Today, I am starting blogmas! Blogmas is a challenge where bloggers post every day in December. Since I do not have much time to do that right now, I decided to try the 12 days of Blogmas challenge! For this challenge, I will post every day for the 12 days leading up to Christmas!
So for my first post, I thought I would share some of my favorite Christmas movies! These are the movies that I watch every year to get me into the holiday spirit! I hope you guys will enjoy this post! Maybe your favorite movie is on this list, or you will discover something new to watch during the holiday season!
My Favorite Christmas Movies!
1.) Gremlins (1984)
I feel that you can watch this movie on Christmas and Halloween. Kind of like The Nightmare Before Christmas. This movie gives me all of the nostalgia of Christmas in the 80s. It also keeps me on the seat of my chair! It’s both a Christmas classic and a comedy/horror film!
Synopsis: A gadget salesman is looking for a special gift for his son and finds one at a store in Chinatown. The shopkeeper is reluctant to sell him the `mogwai’ but sells it to him with the warning to never expose him to bright light, water, or to feed him after midnight. All of this happens and the result is a gang of gremlins that decide to tear up the town on Christmas Eve.
2.) The Santa Clause (1994)
This movie is one of the first Christmas films I’ve ever watched. As a child, I had the DVD of this movie, and I would watch it repeatedly. Five-year-old me was always left wondering about the existence of Santa and if he could actually fall off my roof!
Synopsis: Divorced dad Scott (Tim Allen) has custody of his son (Eric Lloyd) on Christmas Eve. After he accidentally kills a man in a Santa suit, they are magically transported to the North Pole, where an elf explains that Scott must take Santa’s place before the next Christmas arrives. Scott thinks he’s dreaming, but over the next several months he gains weight and grows an inexplicably white beard. Maybe that night at the North Pole wasn’t a dream after all — and maybe Scott has a lot of work to do.
3.) The Ultimate Christmas Present (2000)
This Disney Channel original movie always amazed me as a kid! The idea of a machine that created a snow day whenever you want is something I needed as a child. I mean, who doesn’t love snow days!
Synopsis: A girl steals a weather machine from Santa Claus, to make a snow day. The machine breaks, and causes an out-of-control snowstorm.
4.) Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas (1999)
This film is a TV special that I make sure to watch every Christmas! It tells three stories involving Mickey Mouse and his friends. My favorite one in this special was always Donald Duck’s story. His story with his nephews always made me appreciate Christmas and my family more!
Synopsis: Mickey and his friends tell three stories including “A Very Goofy Christmas” and “Mickey and Minnie’s Gift of the Magi.”
5.) National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
This movie is another Christmas classic that my family has made a tradition to watch every year! It is a comedy full of laughs and scenes that I feel every family can relate to. It is the perfect family film!
Synopsis: As the holidays approach, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) wants to have a perfect family Christmas, so he pesters his wife, Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), and children, as he tries to make sure everything is in line, including the tree and house decorations. However, things go awry quickly. His hick cousin, Eddie (Randy Quaid), and his family show up unplanned and start living in their camper on the Griswold property. Even worse, Clark’s employers renege on the holiday bonus he needs.
